My Attention Span is in Jeopardy

My Attention Span is in Jeopardy

I have become addicted to "Reels" on Facebook and "Shorts" on YouTube. I will watch these short clips of video anywhere from 5 minutes to 30 minutes at a time, and I believe they are turning my brain into mush and destroying my attention span.

It appears that the videos selected for me come in themes, although they are mixed up during the longer sessions. There is revenge porn, where a bad guy gets the crap kicked out of him after he has engaged in the worst bullying behavior. There are clips from television series I have watched on Netflix or Max over the years. Lots of cops acting racist or just assholish in general. Every now and again they slip in a video that I immediately recognize as something I would hate, and I click the arrow to go to the next clip. I guess that helps their algorithm.

I wonder if I can request videos where (1) a guy who does not use turn signals is dragged out of his car and beaten until he promises to start using them, (2) scientists I love tell me neat things about the universe, (3) Jacque Pepin cooks fantastic dishes I love in 5 minutes, and (4) attractive people act like nice human beings. Probably not, but I don't know how the algorithm works, which seems unfair.
